a shooting. we know a sheriff's deputy is among those killed by a gunman. at this point, officers do have a suspect in custody. we want to show you a look at the scene coming in from a facebook live video moments ago from our nbc affiliate wblt in jackson. investigators say the shootings happened at three separate homes last night. police say charges have not yet been filed, and they're still working to figure out why this all happened and what motivated it. it's a story that we're going to continue to update if not on air through our nbc washington app. busy sunday morning. >> that's a small town just south of jackson to put it on the map for you. something we'll be following closely. >> we welcome you in on this sunday morning, memorial day weekend. the 28th of may. >> talking about the weather, we started off with a little bit of fog in some parts this morning. some haze. it looks like the

clearing. >> the fog is all gone now. good morning. starting off on this sunday morning now as we approach late morning we have temperatures beginning to jump as the clouds have been coming and going. we still have now a mostly cloudy sky over the metro area. temperature right now 71 at reagan national. near 70 around the bay. 60s further north and west. storm team 4 radar showing one shower here rolling along the east side of the blueridge cone front royal shortly. that pay pass into western loudoun in another half hour or so. we're dry on this sunday morning. this other shower tracked across the panhandle of west virginia pulling up into pennsylvania. if you have plans on getting out and getting exercise today, noontime temperatures will be into the low 70s to mid 70s. near 80 mid afternoon. upper 70s by 6:00 p.m. by then, might have a few scattered showers and thundershowers around. new timing in just a few minutes. >> thank you, tom. we continue to follow this developing story out

springs. montgomery county police continue to investigate a homicide. at this days inn motel. police say a 24-year-old man died at the hospital after being assaulted by multiple people in the motel's parking lot. this happened during the busy travel holiday weekend. police say they got the call around 2:30 this morning. the motel is located on 13th street a block from georgia avenue. crimesolvers is offing an award up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest. let's give folks a live look now near the pentagon where rolling thunder is forming. take a look at that crowd building there. thousands of rolling thunder motorcyclists will rumble through the heart of d.c. today. their route may affect some of your sunday travel plans. we go live near thunder alley for details on the route and the mission. good morning. >> reporter: good morning again.

life come to learn more about who we are, celebrate our diversity and leave inspired to improve their lives, communities and country." >> that happened in the district. let's go to alexandria where there was another disturbing find that has residents there sending a message that hate will not be tolerated in their community. let's show you what was put up. these flyers. these apparently were covered with discriminatory messages. we had to blur some of them because the words were hurtful. a resident took these pictures of those flyers and sent them to us and then tore the flyers down. images are being circulated on social media to bring awareness to what's going on. the city is condemning the flyers and whoever put them up. 9:08 is your time. maybe if you want outdoors this weekend, tom is tracking when the showers will move on in. ♪

>> we've already seen several tweets from him this morning. as he returns to d.c., the russian investigation is still hanging over his administration. let's talk about it a little bit more. we have "meet the press" moderator chuck todd joining us this morning. let's look at this trip first. it was a nine-day trip including parts of the middle east, europe in there. what stands out to you as you dissect this? >> it's a tale of two trips, i think. the first part of the trip was well planned. well orchestrated. we'll know -- it will take time to figure out if the things they're putting into place will actually deliver some results whether it's putting together a more durable coalition to deal with isis or jump-starting the middle east peace process. they had a plan, an idea and a strategy and then the president landed in europe. i would say you have to look at the european portion of it through two lenses. through the international diplomacy lens it was borderline

united states over here and european allies somewhere else on a number of issues. and there's a lot of grumbling that here he is telling middle east leaders we're not here to lecture but goes to europe and ele lectures allies. and talking tough to european allies isn't bad politics particularly for a republican politician is the other side. i think there -- we'll see if there's any long-term negative impact on intelligence sharing, things like that that come with more frayed personal relations between this president and leaders of other countries. and then at that point it could become a political problem for him. i think you do have to be careful when noting, you know, yes internationally it was a rough trip in europe, but maybe that doesn't -- that isn't so bad for him politically. >> one story line that won't go a way is the

we know the shift focused to the president's son-in-law jared kushner. how troubling are these allegations? >> they're extraordinary troubling. the fact that these are previously undisclosed. looks like they were making this effort to conceal their meetings and it's been sort of yanked out of them that these different meetings with russian officials have taken place. i think before the president left, it seemed as if the russian investigation was at least at a minimum might get kpa compartmentalized. they got rid of flynn. jared kushner being involved brings it back into the white house. and that's what makes -- especially him. here he is essentially the president's closest personal adviser. some even say he's de facto chief of staff. if he is now having to lawyer up, he's got to worry about maybe even testifying on capitol hill or he says he's going to cooperate with an investigation, that doesn't mean he's going to testify, but
